A Court of Thorns and Roses Review

Hello Readers-

Rating - 4 stars

I recently read A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. I am not normally a fantasy reader but The series was recommended to me by someone. This was an amazing introduction to adult fantasy for me, mostly since I haven’t read much fantasy since middle school. The plot follows Feyre, a mortal woman who finds herself intertwined with the Fae and their land, Prythian after killing a wolf. Tamlin, the high lord of the spring court, takes Feyre to his estate as a punishment. The world-building is not something I expected to enjoy as much as I did. Sarah J Mass describes in great detail allowing for amazing visualization of the Prythian and the courts. The Character development experienced by Feyre is a compelling part of this novel, as Feyre goes from a naive girl to a brave strong woman. Feyre’s struggles with loyalty and identity drive the plot forward. Tamlin reveals the deeper layers of his character as the story develops. The romance that blossoms between Feyre and Tamlin goes well with the story and plot. While the pacing did feel slow near the climax and resolution of the novel, the rest of the novel did make up for it. I would recommend this to anyone who is not usually a fantasy reader but wants to get into fantasy.

Thanks for Reading - Morgan
