City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Today I will be talking about the second book in the Mortal Instruments series called City of Ashes. The Book picks up right where the first book left off. Clary struggles to come to terms with her place in the shadowhunter world. The characters in City of Ashes grow a lot. We, readers, witness the growth Jace, Clary, Isabelle, and Alec experience while the characters deal with personal issues as they navigate through the politics of the shadow hunter world. The pacing of this novel really works because it is filled with fast-paced action scenes as well as slower-paced romance. The twists and turns in the plot kept me on my toes while reading. certain parts of this story were frustrating but that helped keep me suspenseful during the story. This book was a good sequel to the first book and I can’t wait to read the next book city of Glass. stay tuned for that review.
